The Independent Election Commission on Wednesday said the process of transferring voters’ information from biometric devices to the commission’s data center has been completed.
The IEC officials said that in the second phase the commission will invalidate fake votes.
Meanwhile, sources within the Election Commission have said that at least 169 biometric devices are missing.
“Based on the reports that we have received, over 100 biometric devices are missing. These reports have been shared with the commission’s leadership,” said Awarangzeb, an IEC commissioner.
“Information of over 1.7 million voters has been transferred from biometric devices to the commission’s data center,” said Abdul Aziz Ibrahimi, deputy spokesman for the IEC.
According to the IEC, along with the 169 missing biometric devices, another 2,300 devices have been separated out due to some technical problems. The commission will make a decision about these once the necessary assessments have been conducted.
