US Soldier ‘Killed In Action’ In Afghanistan

A US service member was ‘killed in action’ in Afghanistan on Monday, according to a statement by NATO’s Resolute Support mission.  

Monday’s incident brings the number of this year’s US troop casualties in Afghanistan to 17.

On September 5, an American soldier and a Romanian soldier were killed in a Taliban suicide attack in Kabul.

A US Army Special Forces soldier was killed during combat operations in Afghanistan’s southern Zabul province on August 29. Two US Special Forces soldiers were killed in combat operations in Faryab province on August 21, and three American troops were killed in Uruzgan and Faryab provinces in July.

Also in July, a Taliban suicide attack killed a Croatian soldier serving with the Resolute Support mission, and wounded two others.

About 14,000 US troops and nearly 8,000 allied military personnel are in Afghanistan.
