Former governor of northern Jawzjan province and political rival of Vice President Abdul Rashid Dostum, Ahmad Ischi, on Sunday said he had no problem with the VP’s return but he wanted his case to be fully probed.
Talking to Pajhwok Afghan News, Ischi said he would not budge from his position against Dostum as he wanted his sexual harassment case to reach a conclusion.
He said it was government’s responsibility to provide him justice and complete investigation into his case.
Dostum on Sunday returned to the country and was welcomed at a special ceremony at the Kabul Airport after spending 14 months in Turkey.
Dostum’s plane landed in Kabul Airport around 4:30pm and was welcomed by second vice-president, Mohammad Sarwar Danish, second Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mohammad Muhaqiq and Atta Mohammad Noor at the airport.
Dostum, the leader of Junbish-i-Islami Afghanistan party, quietly left Kabul for Turkey last year in May after he was accused of rape and torture by Ischi. Dostum had since been living in exile in Turkey. However, the vice president said after his return to the country that he had been in Turkey for health issues.
As Dostum returns, Ischi asks gov’t to probe his case
