At least 150 women entrepreneurs who run small and medium businesses attended a three-day exhibition in Kabul where they displayed their handicrafts and other products from their companies.
The entrepreneurs said that they signed many agreements with other firms on their products during the exhibition organized by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
The businesswomen said the number of visitors was not high in the three days of the exhibition, but they are still happy with their achievement at the expo.
“We signed two contracts, one for saffron and another for jewelry,” said Fatana, head of a private company.
“We had technical cooperation and included women from all sectors,” the deputy of Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Women, Parwarish Oriakhail, said.
Women investors from 14 provinces attended the expo and people from different parts of the country, including Kabul, came to visit the expo.
“The expo belongs to women investors in Afghanistan and we are responsible to buy and participate. I bought saffron and some other things,” said Shogufa, a Kabul resident.
“Such exhibitions will have more and more visitors if the entry is free,” said Razia Rastagar, a Herat resident.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Samir Rasa, said more exhibitions for women-run companies will be held in Kabul and other parts of the country.
“We are planning to hold exhibitions not only in Kabul but in other provinces and abroad. We will organize workshops at women’s exhibitions,” said Rasa.
