In Nuristan Province, 11,000 hectares of pastureland affected by snowfall and floods have been successfully restored, local officials report.
Qari Zainul Abidin Abid, the Governor of Nuristan, told Bakhtar News Agency that the provincial Directorate of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock, in collaboration with several organizations, carried out the restoration efforts.
To enhance pasture quality, 9 metric tons of rain-fed alfalfa seeds were distributed, water reservoirs were constructed, and 25,000 livestock owners received animal fodder. Additionally, 50,000 doses of PPR vaccines were administered to livestock to prevent disease outbreaks.
Furthermore, aside from pasture restoration, 2,500 hectares of forests were rehabilitated in different parts of the province as part of broader conservation efforts to protect the region’s natural resources.
These initiatives aim to improve local livelihoods, support livestock farming, and ensure sustainable environmental management in the province.
