The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation has handed over 20 tons of non-food relief items to the Afghan Red Crescent Society to support families affected by the recent earthquake in Kunar province.
The delivery, made at Kabul International Airport, was handed over by Deputy Head of Office Stata Kiss and advisor Ahmad Saleem to Mohammad Saleh Akhundzada, head of the disaster management department of the Afghan Red Crescent.
Akhundzada expressed gratitude for Switzerland’s humanitarian assistance, assuring that the aid would be distributed transparently to quake-affected families in Kunar.
Kiss said Switzerland seeks to respond whenever natural disasters occur in Afghanistan and pledged additional support to help improve the situation of Kunar’s quake victims.
The shipment includes 310 tents and 300 packages of winter clothing, which will soon be distributed among affected families.
