The construction of a 10.5-kilometer road in Babaji District of Helmand Province has been completed and handed over for use at a cost of 1.7 million U.S. dollars.
The spokesperson for the Helmand governor, Mawlawi Mohammad Qasim Riaz, told Bakhtar News Agency that along with the road, canals on both sides and culverts were also built in order to address water flow and transportation problems.
Local residents expressed happiness over the completion of the road, saying that it would provide easier transportation and reduce people’s difficulties.
It is worth mentioning that during the course of the project, employment opportunities were also provided for a number of local residents.
