Reports indicate that Pakistan’s debt has reached its highest level ever, breaking previous records. According to the report, by March 2026, Pakistan’s total debt had reached 97,307 billion Pakistani rupees, of which 57,566 billion rupees were domestic debt and more than 35,000 billion rupees were external debt. The report adds that during the same period last year, the country’s total debt stood at 89,774 billion rupees, including 51,518 billion rupees in domestic debt and 33,137 billion rupees in external debt. Based on these figures, Pakistan’s debt has increased by more than 7,533 billion rupees over the past year.
