The Ministry of Public Works has announced that between the beginning and end of the solar month of Sawr this year, a total of 1,003,821 tons of goods were transported across the country’s railway network.
According to a statement released by the ministry, the cargo was carried along the Hairatan, Aqina, Torghundi, and Khaf-Herat railway corridors.
The ministry reported that the total volume, 1,003,821 tons, included petroleum products, non-petroleum goods, and other commodities, covering both imports and exports.
Exports accounted for 4,246 tons of commercial goods shipped via rail during the month of Sawr.
The ministry added that railway freight volume stood at 332,837 tons in the solar year 1404, but surged to 1,003,821 tons in 1405, a threefold increase.
According to the ministry, this growth in rail transport and exports helps generate more employment opportunities, boost national revenue, enhance economic stability, and promote the country’s development and self-reliance.
The ministry also reaffirmed its commitment to improving transport conditions and expanding facilities for traders.
