The Islamic Emirate has announced a budget allocation of 1.5 billion Afs aimed at providing essential services and establishing temporary shelters for returnees.
During a press conference at the Islam Qala border in Herat, Mawlavi Hamdullah Fitrat, Deputy Spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, revealed that approximately 500,000 Afghan refugees have been deported from Iran in recent weeks. The surge in returnees has prompted the government to take swift action to support those in need.
Fitrat assured that the situation at the border is well-managed, with government service committees actively engaged in offering support to migrants. He expressed gratitude to local institutions, the Refugee Affairs Department, the Red Crescent, and various volunteer youth groups for their continued efforts in assisting the influx of returnees.
Mawlavi Ahmad Kamil, head of the service committees at Islam Qala, noted that daily provisions of three meals and drinks are being distributed to migrants. He highlighted the indispensable role of civilian volunteer groups in these humanitarian efforts.
According to officials from the Public Information Committee on Refugee Affairs, the Islam Qala border is currently witnessing more than 30,000 refugees entering Afghanistan each day.
