A number of irrigation projects funded by the World Food Programme (WFP) have been completed and put into operation in Jani Khel district of Paktika province.
Mawlavi Lal Mohammad Gohar, Director of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock of Paktika province, said the projects include an irrigation reservoir, a 500-meter stone-lined canal, a 12-meter aqueduct, and two small bridges.
He added that the projects were constructed at a cost of 9.1 million Afghanis, with financial support from the World Food Programme, in accordance with technical standards.
According to him, the completion of these projects has provided irrigation water for hundreds of jeribs of agricultural land.
