The Ministry of Higher Education of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has strongly condemned Pakistan’s rocket attack on Sayyid Jamaluddin Afghan University in Kunar, describing it as “cowardly, brutal, and in violation of all Islamic and international principles.
According to a statement from the ministry, Neda Mohammad Nadim, Minister of Higher Education, stressed that targeting an academic institution constitutes a direct attack on the fundamental values of society and the country’s future.
According to the statement, around 30 students and teachers were injured as a result of the attack, while university buildings and facilities were extensively damaged.
It further stated that, on the instructions of the Afghan Minister of Higher Education, the urgent transfer of the injured to major health centers in Nangarhar and Kabul has been carried out.
The Ministry of Higher Education added that it considers this act an attack on knowledge and the country’s educational institutions, and called on international organizations not to remain silent in the face of such incidents.
In conclusion, the Ministry of Higher Education reaffirmed the Islamic Emirate’s commitment to ensuring the security of academic and educational institutions across the country.
Meanwhile, this reaction comes as Pakistan, in continuation of its incursions into Afghanistan, targeted parts of Asadabad city and Manogai district in Kunar province with rocket and mortar attacks earlier today.
Hamdullah Fitrat, Deputy Spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, said that four people were killed and seventy others were injured in the attacks.
He added that the victims include civilians, among them women, children, as well as students and teachers of Sayyid Jamaluddin Afghan University.
