Etisalat Donates 50 Tons of Food Items to Afghan Returnees

As part of its commitment to support the people of Afghanistan, Etisalat is distributing food packs to the newly returning Afghan families from Pakistan in the returnees` camp close to Turkham and Spin Boldak border crossings. Around 1,700 families will benefit from these food packs consisted of rice, red beans, yellow split peas, sugar, tea, and cooking oil. The distribution started today, 14 November 2023, and will continue throughout the coming days.

‘So far, thousands of Afghans returning home have received our immediate support. We are committed to continue these humanitarian supports and stand with Afghans as they are going through these tough times.’ said Mohamad Osman, Etisalat Afghanistan CEO.

Tens of thousands of Afghans arrive daily from Pakistan to Afghanistan most of whom are in a dire humanitarian situation.

‘With nowhere to go, we are stranded in this camp. It is cold and we have very little to eat. Thank you for bringing us this food’ said a new returnee from Pakistan

Since the beginning of the repatriation of Afghans, Etisalat has been using its resources to extend a helping hand to the returnees. As part of these efforts, Etisalat opened its exclusive booths in Turkham and Spin Boldak area to distribute free SIM cards loaded with free talk-time and data. Etisalat also installed temporary towers in these areas to improve connectivity and enhance coverage for mobile phones.
