E-Tazkira distribution launched in Nangarhar

After Kabul and Herat provinces, the distribution of computerized national identity card (CNIC) also kicked off in eastern Nangarhar province on Monday, officials said.

A CNIC distribution center was inaugurated by Governor Shah Mahmood Maikhel and Population Registration Department (PRD) head for Nangarhar Ahmad Javed Rasooli in Jalalabad, the provincial capital.

The PRD head told a press conference that 250,000 individuals had so far received electronic ID cards throughout the country.

He said around 50,000 people had registered to obtain electronic ID cards, therefore the process lengthened in capital Kabul.

He said efforts were underway to provide more facilities in this regard and assured that all people would get the electronic ID cards in near future.

He said after Kabul and Herat provinces, they started the process in Nangarhar based on people interest and around 1,000 people would get the ID cards on a daily basis.

Besides Nangarhar, residents of Laghman, Kunar and Nuristan provinces could also gain electronic ID cards here.

Governor Maikhel said crime rate would also decrease by distributing of e-ID cards and could help in terms of economic growth.

Maikhel further said electronic ID cards would also help in holding transparent election process in the province.

He assured the governor’s house would maintain close cooperation with the electronic ID cards distribution administration and hoped the distribution offices would be increased in future.

Ghulam Qadir Faqirzai, a resident of the provincial capital, expressed his happiness over receiving his electronic ID card and termed the process as ‘national’ and urged more facilities in this regard.

A number of other residents held similar views and urged the authorities concerned to provide more facilities in distribution of e-ID cards so all people could obtain their cards.
