Officials of the Kunar Directorate of Mines and Petroleum announced that another auction of precious and semi-precious stones was held in the province.
Local officials said that 1,585 kilograms of beryl were sold through a transparent auction process. They added that 11.9 million Afghanis in revenue generated from the sale will be deposited into the treasury of the Islamic Emirate.
Mohammad Sherin Haqqani, Director of the Kunar Directorate of Mines and Petroleum, said the stones were extracted from mines in Asadabad, the provincial capital, and auctioned as part of ongoing efforts to improve mine management and increase government revenues.
