A business-to-business (B2B) meeting between traders and investors from Afghanistan’s Balkh province and Uzbekistan’s Khorezm province was held in Mazar-i-Sharif, attended by Mohammad Ibrahim Ghanzafar, head of the Balkh Chamber of Commerce and Investment.
The meeting was also attended by Haroon Rashid Qazi, deputy head of the Balkh Chamber of Commerce and Investment, along with several board members, the deputy governor of Khorezm, approximately 30 traders and investors from the Uzbek province, and traders from Balkh.
Opening the meeting, Ghanzafar identified expanding trade and strengthening ties between the private sectors of both sides as key areas of cooperation.
He noted that Afghanistan possesses strong potential to export to Uzbekistan and other regional markets, particularly fresh and dried fruits, agricultural products, carpets, saffron, precious stones, and other domestically produced goods.
Ghanzafar stated that the objective was to establish balanced and sustainable trade relations. He added that the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment was prepared to serve as a bridge between the private sectors of the two countries by helping identify business opportunities, facilitating trade activities, and connecting traders.
Meanwhile, Alisher Dustjanov, deputy governor of Uzbekistan’s Khorezm province, emphasized the need for further expansion of trade and economic ties between the two sides and described the outcome of such meetings as constructive.
He noted that Uzbekistan and Afghanistan have longstanding relations and that trade between the two countries is growing.
During the meeting, Khorezm traders displayed samples of their products, which were reviewed by the head of the Balkh Chamber of Commerce and Investment and other traders.
B2B sessions were subsequently held between traders from Balkh and Khorezm, during which the two sides discussed investment and joint cooperation opportunities, increasing exports and imports, market demands, and expanding commercial relations.
