Arafat Jamal: Afghanistan received the highest number of returning refugees in 2025

According to a statement from Arg, Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister’s Office Dr. Mullah Abdul Wasi met with UNHCR Representative for Afghanistan Arafat Jamal. The meeting discussed the challenges facing Afghan refugees, forced returns, management of returnees, and the upcoming visit of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees to Afghanistan. Arafat Jamal stated that Afghanistan recorded the highest number of forced refugee returns globally in 2025, adding that officials had made appropriate arrangements for them.
