The founder of Aksos Publishing Center, Hameed Nasary, says that the organization has launched a comprehensive cultural and educational initiative under the name “Aksos Book Publishing Center” with the aim of promoting Afghanistan’s national culture, supporting the academic needs of young people, and enriching the country’s literary fiction landscape.

According to him, the publishing center began its activities on a small scale in 2014. In recent months, however, it has expanded significantly by opening a large modern bookstore that houses more than 30,000 book titles across 33 categories in Pashto, Dari, Arabic, and English languages.

Officials at Aksos state that, since its establishment, the center has authored, translated, and published a wide range of important works in the fields of politics, psychology, and literary fiction, many of which have achieved strong readership and been sold in high circulation.

They further emphasize that, for the growth of Afghanistan’s publishing industry and cultural sector, there is an urgent need for the government to develop a national cultural strategy. Such a framework, they say, should regulate and support book publishing, digital distribution, book purchasing and sales, and the nationwide promotion of reading culture across Afghan society.

It is worth noting that Aksos offers more than just book sales. The center also provides a café, a free reading space for visitors, book delivery services to Kabul and other cities, dedicated venues for book launch and review events, as well as podcast production environments focused on reading culture and intellectual discussion.
