Mawlavi Sadr Azam Osmani, Afghanistan’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, held talks with Mikail Çeşdemir, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) country director for Afghanistan, to explore broadening bilateral farming ties, advancing joint development projects, and uplifting local growers.
In a statement released today, the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock said Deputy Minister Osmani underscored the significance of deepening agricultural collaboration and commended TIKA’s instrumental role in Afghanistan’s development landscape. He noted that both TIKA and the Turkish humanitarian organization IHH have delivered notable development initiatives across the country over the years.
Osmani further stressed the ministry’s intent to widen the scope of farming activities and roll out new programs geared toward boosting crop yields and empowering Afghan farmers with modern techniques.
For his part, Çeşdemir briefed the meeting on TIKA’s ongoing assessments and feasibility studies within the sector. He affirmed the agency’s continued commitment to supporting Afghanistan’s agricultural sector through greenhouse construction, vocational training programs, and other sustainable development interventions.
Wrapping up the talks, both officials reaffirmed their resolve to maintain joint efforts aimed at transforming the agricultural landscaps strengthening production capacities, fostering technology and knowledge exchange, and ensuring tangible benefits for the farming community.
TIKA has rolled out numerous farming initiatives in Kabul and several other provinces in recent years, including the distribution of fruit saplings, the establishment of greenhouses, the organization of skills-building workshops, and the provision of essential equipment to agriculture-related institutions.
