Afghanistan presents favorable conditions for domestic and foreign investment in its mining sector, particularly in oil and gas, Deputy Minister of Mines and Petroleum Sheikh Abdul Rahman Qanit said during a meeting with Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy.

According to the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, Sheikh Abdul Rahman Qanit and Hamid Qanbari discussed investment opportunities in the mining sector, the Herat–Mazar-e-Sharif railway project, strengthening good-neighborly relations, and expanding economic cooperation between the two countries.

Qanit urged Iranian investors to capitalize on the available opportunities in Afghanistan’s mining and petroleum sectors. He also emphasized the need to implement agreements signed between the two countries during the visit of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs to Iran, noting that their implementation could help expand bilateral cooperation and prevent delays in future joint initiatives.

For his part, Qanbari described Afghanistan as a good neighbor of Iran and expressed his country’s readiness to expand economic cooperation with Afghanistan in mining, extraction, and other areas.
