Zhao Xing, the Ambassador of China to Afghanistan, met with Mawlavi Atiqullah Azizi, Deputy Minister of Culture and Arts at the Ministry of Information and Culture of Afghanistan.
The two sides engaged in discussions aimed at expanding historical and cultural cooperation between their countries.
During the meeting, both officials emphasized the significance of their historical and cultural relations, reaffirming that their partnership is built on mutual respect, goodwill, and shared interests.
Mawlavi Azizi highlighted the necessity for technical training, standard equipment, and modern facilities to ensure the effective protection, rescue, and documentation of Afghanistan’s historical monuments. He underscored that the cooperation of the People’s Republic of China could play a crucial role in safeguarding Afghanistan’s cultural heritage and enhancing professional capabilities in this area.
Ambassador Zhao affirmed the importance of Afghanistan’s historical heritage, echoing the sentiments of the Chinese president regarding its preservation.
He proposed that a high-level delegation from Afghanistan’s Ministry of Information and Culture visit China, coordinated through the Chinese Embassy, to hold detailed discussions with relevant government agencies.
This visit would focus on expanding joint cultural cooperation, particularly regarding the protection of historical sites, including those in Mes Aynak, and providing the necessary support for these initiatives.
