Afghan carpets displayed at the National Carpet Festival in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, once again highlighted the country’s rich cultural heritage and the global appeal of its traditional handicrafts. Handicrafts expert Mohammad Yousuf Ahmadzai noted that every Afghan carpet tells a story of the country’s history, culture, and skilled artisans. According to him, presenting these products on international platforms not only strengthens trade prospects but also contributes to building a positive image of Afghanistan abroad.
For decades, Afghanistan has been recognized as one of the world’s leading producers of handmade carpets. The warm reception received by Afghan carpets in Ashgabat demonstrates their continued appeal and underscores their importance as both a cultural treasure and a valuable export product.
