Women make 33.27% of civil service employees

Head of the Independent Administrative Reform and Civil Services Commission (IARCSC) said on Friday women presence in government institutions had increased by five percent in the outgoing solar year and it would be increased to 50 percent in the future.

Addressing a gathering which marked the International Women’s Day in Kabul, Nader Nadari said only in the current solar year there was five percent increase in the number of women employees in government services.

Increase in women individual capacity building, support from the government leadership and transparency in hiring process were some of the reasons behind growing number of women in government services.

In the last solar year, women made 22 percent of the total civil servants while this year the percentage surge to 33.27 percent and hoped that women presence in civil services would reach to 50 percent in the future.

He, however, warned increase in the number of women in civil services had not been institutionalized and it could be reversed at any state.

The policy women employees in the government offices had recently approved by the cabinet and it should be applicable in all state institutions.
