Local officials in Panjshir say that more than 6,639 carats of emeralds, along with six samples, have been sold at auction for a total of 7,341,500 AFN.
Saifuddin Laton, spokesperson for the Panjshir Governor’s Office, said that the emeralds were sold in the presence of members of the Mines Protection Committee.
He added that the sale of minerals and precious stones through auctions is carried out in accordance with established procedures and in the presence of the relevant committees.
