Afghanistan to Launch Exploration and Extraction at Kushk–Tirpul Oilfield

The Economic Deputy Office of the Prime Minister has announced plans to commence exploration and extraction at the Kushk–Tirpul oilfield in western Afghanistan.

According to a statement from the office, a contract for the exploration and extraction of seven blocks of the Kushk–Tirpul oilfield, spanning 14,871 square kilometers—has been signed with Delta International, a private Saudi Arabian company.

The company will invest up to $200 million during the exploration phase.

The oilfield covers a total area of 23,000 square kilometers and is located in Herat and Badghis provinces.
