Local authorities in Logar Province have announced that the exploratory surveys and preparatory groundwork for the Altamur cement production facility have been finalized, with construction slated to commence shortly.
Deputy Governor Sheikh Enamullah Salahuddin convened with Tariq Mahmood, the chief executive of Sako Afghan Company and the contractor overseeing the Altamur cement mine, alongside officials from the Provincial Directorate of Mines and Petroleum, to review the project’s advancement.
Representatives from Sako Afghan Company confirmed that the exploration phase and preliminary development, amounting to 30 million AFN, have been completed. They further stated that construction activities will get underway within the coming days, pending final approval of the development blueprint.
The company reports that the factory’s construction is projected to be finalized within an 18-month timeline, after which full-scale commercial production will commence. on becoming operational, the facility is expected to generate 1,000 direct employment opportunities.
Deputy Governor Salahuddin urged the contractor to expedite the start of construction once approval is granted and to adhere strictly to high-quality engineering standards. He also emphasized prioritizing the hiring of local youth and skilled professionals from Logar Province.
Meanwhile, Mawlavi Saifullah Hanafi, Director of Mines and Petroleum for Logar, affirmed that his department will extend comprehensive administrative and logistical support to ensure the smooth execution of the project.
Situated in the Altamur district of central Logar Province, the plant is designed to boast a daily production output of 2,400 tons of cement on completion.
