Pakistan has rejected a CBS News report claiming that Iranian aircraft were being hidden at the country’s Nur Khan Air Base.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, May 12, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry described the CBS report as misleading and sensational, saying such narratives undermine efforts for stability and peace in the region.
The statement said: “Following the ceasefire and during the initial round of the Islamabad Talks, a number of aircraft from Iran and the United States arrived in Pakistan to facilitate the movement of diplomatic personnel, security teams, and administrative staff associated with the talks process.”
According to the ministry, some aircraft and support personnel remained temporarily in Pakistan to prepare for subsequent rounds of engagements.
The Foreign Ministry added that the Iranian aircraft currently stationed in Pakistan arrived during the ceasefire period and have no connection to any military situation or preventive actions.
It said that claims suggesting otherwise are speculative, misleading, and entirely detached from the factual context.
On Monday, CBS News reported, citing US officials, that Iran had hidden some of its aircraft in Pakistan to protect them from potential US strikes.
US officials also told the network that some Iranian aircraft may have been moved to Afghanistan as well.
However, the Taliban have not yet issued a clear response regarding the CBS report.
