A three-day saffron flower exhibition with the participation of dozens of domestic and foreign companies concluded yesterday (Saturday) in Herat.
More than a hundred booths showcasing domestic products were displayed at the exhibition, with companies from Iran, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan also participating.
Tasal Khan, the organizer of the exhibition, said: “To support domestic products and Afghanistan’s industry, we had around 100 booths and participants. Various booths, including national and international traders, took part.”
The purpose of holding the exhibition was announced as introducing domestic products and facilitating exports.
Younus Qazizada, head of the Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment, said: “Various exhibitions have been held in recent years for recognition, marketing, and increasing exports to different countries, in which saffron producers from Herat and Afghanistan have participated.”
Some booth owners say that the quality of domestic products has improved in recent years.
They are calling for facilities to be provided for exporting domestic goods to global markets.
Abdul Jalil Khairzada, a booth owner, said: “It’s beneficial for us and for the world as well, because the businesses we have in Afghanistan and the entrepreneurs we have are also useful for the global community and gain a lot of recognition.”
Officials in the caretaker government say they are working to grow domestic production and export it abroad.
Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, said: “The Islamic Emirate is committed to supporting industrialists and calls on citizens, government agencies, and everyone to use domestic products and organize such large national and international exhibitions.”
According to private sector data, with the growth of domestic production, Afghanistan has become self-sufficient in more than 130 sectors. Additionally, dozens of types of domestic products such as non-alcoholic beverages, saffron, dried fruits, and herbal medicines are exported to various countries.
