The IEA has initiated the second phase of the strategic Wakhan Corridor road project, a key infrastructure initiative aimed at connecting Afghanistan to China.

The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development has awarded the contract for this phase to a private company. Acting Minister Mohammad Yunus Akhundzada, during the contract signing ceremony, stated that this phase involves the construction of 71 kilometers of road.

The Wakhan Corridor is expected to serve as the shortest route for trade and travel between Central Asia and China, boosting economic and social development in the region.

Since regaining control of Afghanistan, the Islamic Emirate has prioritized large-scale infrastructure projects, including the Wakhan Corridor, to foster economic growth and national prosperity.
