Afghanistan, Uzbekistan Hold Business Summit in Termez

A business meeting was held at the commercial complex of Termez, attended by Nooruddin Azizi, Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce of Afghanistan, and Liziz Qudratov, Minister of Investment, Industry, and Commerce of Uzbekistan.

The meeting aimed to further economic collaboration between the two countries, in line with previous agreements established during the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic affaira, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar’s visit to Uzbekistan.

The discussions centered on Uzbekistan’s investment in various sectors within Afghanistan, focusing on the establishment of an economic-commercial complex in Hairatan, as well as initiatives in food production, poultry farming, pharmaceutical industries, cement production, and horticulture, particularly pistachio orchards.

The initial investment is estimated to exceed $200 million, targeting projects in Balkh, Samangan, and Kunduz provinces.

In addition to investment discussions, the meeting addressed plans to host a regional exhibition in Termez, promoting trade among neighboring countries. Key topics included the establishment of trade houses, customs cooperation, product standardization, agricultural collaboration, and enhancing capacity building.

Following the meeting, Azizi and Qudratov, along with their delegations, toured the dedicated economic-commercial complex in Termez, further solidifying their commitment to enhancing bilateral trade relations.
