Former President Hamid Karzai strongly condemned the airstrikes carried out by Pakistani jets on Barmal district of Paktika province last night, describing them as a “blatant aggression” and a violation of Afghanistan’s sovereignty.

Karzai stated that Pakistan’s misguided policies, which have resulted in increased extremism in the region and consistent efforts to weaken Afghanistan, have strained relations between the two countries. He called on Islamabad to reconsider these policies. The Pakistani jet strikes, carried out on Tuesday night, targeted several areas of Barmal district, causing casualties.

It is worth noting that Barmal district in Paktika province lies along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, a region frequently witnessing clashes and attacks between the security forces of the two countries. This recent incident has heightened public concerns, with many demanding urgent action from international bodies and organizations.

The Ministry of Defense has assured that comprehensive measures will be taken to ensure the security of its citizens and that any enemy aggression will be met with a strong response. Simultaneously, it has called on the international community to increase efforts to prevent such attacks.
