The Afghanistan national futsal team beat Guatemala 5-4 in their continental five-a-side tournament match on Monday afternoon, September 2, in Bangkok, Thailand.
For Afghanistan, this will be a warm-up tournament ahead of the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2024 that’s expected to kick off later this month in Uzbekistan.
Thailand is currently hosting the continental five-a-side tournament, involving teams from Afghanistan, the host Thailand, Guatemala, New Zealand, and Kuwait.
This tournament started on August 29 and will run through until September 6 after which teams will start making their way to Uzbekistan for the World Cup which gets underway on September 14.
FIFA meanwhile recently updated the Futsal Men’s world Ranking positions of teams that secured a spot in the global event.
