Iran’s deputy director of its anti-narcotics department, Mohammad Zarei, announced Wednesday that Tehran and Kabul have agreed to share information in the fight against drugs and drug trafficking.
Zarei told Iranian media that the decision was made during a meeting between both parties. He said the fight against narcotics, prevention, reduction of demand and treatment of drug addicts were also discussed in the meeting.
He also said that the exchange of information regarding the fight against drugs; as well as the provision of educational services and the formation of joint committees to tackle the problem were agreed upon.
Zarei stated that the two sides agreed to strengthen coordination so that the sides can use the information to counter and dismantle drug trafficking gangs.
