Afghanistan’s victory over Australia in the Twenty20 World Cup

Afghanistan’s national cricket team defeated Australia by 21 runs in the 2020 World Cup.

After winning the toss, the Australian team invited Afghanistan to bowl and the Afghan team set a target of 149 points for the opposing team after losing 6 players.

For the Afghanistan team, Rahmanullah Garbz scored 60 runs and Ibrahim Zadran scored 51 runs.

In the bowling department, Golbedin Naib removed four strong players from the opposing team including Marcus Stoinis, Tim David, Glenn Maxwell and Pat Cummins and was selected as the best player.

Naveen Ul Haq also had a good start in the bowling department and removed three players from the game.

The captain of the Afghanistan team, Rashid Khan described this victory as a great achievement for Afghanistan.

Rashid Khan added: “This is a great victory for us as a team and as a nation. “It’s great to beat Australia, that’s what we missed in the 2023 ODI World Cup and the 2022 T20 World Cup.”

In the second stage of the World Cup (top eight teams), Afghanistan lost its first game to India with a difference of 47 points.

This great victory after the defeat against India revived the hopes of Afghanistan to reach the semi-final stage of the World Cup.

The Afghanistan team will play its third match against Bangladesh on Tuesday (June 25) in the round of the World Cup.
