Survey begins for Panjshir-Kabul water conduit project

Officials of the Ministry of Energy and Water have announced that a survey has begun for the project to transfer water from Panjshir River to Kabul.

Mohammad Aref Momand, the head of survey and design of the Ministry of Energy and Water, said in a meeting with Panjshir governor that the practical work of this 120 km long project from Panjshir capital Bazarak to Tarakhel area of Kabul will start soon.

Meanwhile, Panjshir Governor Mohammad Agha Hakim has also assured of cooperation in transferring the water of the province to Kabul.

A Turkish construction company called SKM is involved in the project to transfer of water from Panjshir to Kabul.

The company’s officials have said that they need the support of government institutions to implement their projects.

It is expected that with the implementation of the Panjshir water transfer project, the problem of lack of safe drinking water in Kabul will be solved to some extent as 2 million people will benefit from the water.
