Hina Rabbani Khar, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, arrived in Kabul, the Afghan capital, on Tuesday for a day-long visit during which she will engage in “political dialogue” with the caretaker Afghan administration.

At the Kabul airport, Abdul Latif, the Deputy Minister of the Economy of Afghanistan, and representatives from the Pakistani embassy welcomed the high-ranking delegation from Pakistan, which reportedly include the Pakistani Minister of Finance.

Hina Rabbani Khar will have discussions on bilateral relations, including collaboration in the fields of education, investment and trade regional connectivity, people-to-people connections, and issues relating to regional security, according to a statement from the Foreign Office.

The visit coincides with the TTP’s announcement to break the Afghanistan-mediated truce, and Afghan officials are likely to raise the issue during the Pakistani official’s visit.

The first female official from Pakistan, Hina Rabbani, visited Kabul to meet with the authorities in Afghanistan after the former government was ousted.

The Pakistani official was warmly welcomed by the Afghan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amir Khan Muttaqi, at the Kabul ministry moments after Afghan authorities and Pakistani officials received her and the delegation at the airport.

The details of the meeting between Muttaqi and Rabbani are still undisclosed. The Pakistani official is also scheduled to meet with other Afghan officials in Kabul before leaving Afghanistan after her one-day visit.
