Afghans won’t forget Gen. Raziq’s sacrifices: Ghani

President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani says Afghans will never forget General Abdul Raziq’s sacrifices for the country. The president made the remarks during his visit to Kandahar to pay tribute to him and meet his family members on Tuesday.

In a meeting with Raziq’s mother and his brother, Tadeen Khan, who was appointed as new police chief of Kandahar on Monday, Ghani said Raziq was a strong military commander who made a lot of efforts to secure the southern provinces.

President Ghani thanked his mother for raising such a brave, honest and patriotic son.

According to a statement published by Presidential Palace, the President said Afghans would never forget the sacrifices rendered by the slain general.

The entire country shares the pain of the bereaved family, Ghani was quoted as saying in the statement.

The President also visited Raziq’s tomb and paid tribute to him.
