President Ashraf Ghani on Sunday vehemently condemned the terrorist attack killed a number of people in the Ahwaz city of Iran.
On Saturday, at least 25 people were and 70 others wounded in the assault on a military parade. The dead and wounded included military personnel and civilians watching the event.
Gunmen opened fired from a long distance from inside a park, killing the security personnel and civilians. Three of the attackers were gunned down during a clash with the security forces.
In a statement from his office, President Ghani denounced terrorism as a regional and global phenomenon — the enemy of all humanity.
The statement said the people and government of Afghanistan had rendered great sacrifices in the war on terrorism. The brave Afghan forces were in the frontline in the war on the scourge.
The statement quoted Ghani as saying: “We believe terrorism doesn’t know borders and it is the enemy of all humanity because it targets the citizens of every country. There is need to fight the menace honestly.”
