Ghani vows revenge for Haska Mena mosque bombing

President Ashraf Ghani condoled with the relatives of Haska Mena blast victims during his trip to eastern Nangarhar province on Sunday.

More than 70 people were killed and more than 30 others wounded in a bomb blast that ripped through a mosque during Friday’s prayer in the Haska Mena district of eastern Nangarhar province.

The explosion caused by a landmine which had already been planted in Jodar village away from the district center.

President Ghani traveled to Haska Mena district yesterday and extended his condolences with relatives of victims. However, reports were not invited to the gathering but the governor house media office shared details with reporters.

President Ghani warned to avenge the killing of innocent civilians.

He promise to suppress Daesh in six districts of Nangarhar and emphasized that the provincial government would launch operation against Daesh in the earliest possible. Ghani told Shinwari tribe: “Your grief is mine, that is why I’m here.”

He vehemently condemned that the blast inside a mosque in Jodar village and termed it against humanity, Islamic teachings.

Governor Shah Mahmood Miakhel thanked President Ghani for coming to Nangarhar and shared suggestions to maintain better security in Nangarhar.

He vowed to ensure the security of the province using the existing facilities and would launch wide-range operations against militants.

Malik Mohib, a tribal elder, also stressed the need for aid with the relatives of victims.

Hajib Abdul Satar, another tribal elder called for full suppress of Daesh and other militants and demanded wide-range operation.
