A number of residents of western Ghor province are concerned about the spread of diarrhea, complaining lack of inadequate health services at the civil hospital.
The concern comes as dozens of children infected with diarrhea are referred to hospital daily. But lack of the required facilities has been a hurdle to their treatment.
Azizullah, a resident of Shahrak district, said his child suffering from diarrhea had been in the main provincial hospital for 10 days, but his condition was yet to improve.
He grumbled healthcare services at the hospital were far from sufficient for a large number of children who needed adequate care. Doctor visited patients once a day, leaving patients in trouble, he alleged.
Abdul Hameed, another resident, also complained of scarce services. Two of his children were hospitalized but doctors asked him to purchase medicine from other pharmacies.
Civil Hospital Director Dr. Mohammad Nasir Parsa confirmed dozens of children with diarrhea and indigestion were brought to hospital daily and the number was on the increase.
He admitted the lack of professional doctors and delivery of satisfactory services was not easy in absence of professional medicines.
Parsa called on families to keep the environment and care for their children to protect them from various seasonal diseases, including diarrhea and indigestion.
