The NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg reaffirmed support to Afghan forces while endorsing the ongoing efforts to achieve peace in Afghanistan.
Stoltenberg renewed the commitment of the alliance after meeting with the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
He said in a Twitter post that he had great discussion with Secretary Pompeo on current security issues.
Furthermore, Stoltenberg said “NATO fully supports efforts to achieve peace in Afghanistan. I condemn recent horrific attacks & NATO remains committed to supporting Afghan forces.”
This comes as the US envoy for Afghan peace Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad recently shared with the Afghan leaders the details of the draft US-Taliban peace agreement.
Ambassador Khalilzad arrived to Kabul after concluding the 9th round of peace talks with the Taliban representatives in Doha.
