Local officials in Herat province have reported that 71 people were killed in a collision between a passenger bus and a Mazda truck on the Herat–Islam Qala highway.
According to sources, the passengers of the bus were individuals who had recently been deported from Iran and were traveling to Kabul. The bus, which was carrying deportees from Islam Qala to Kabul, encountered the tragic accident on its way.
Sources added that after the collision, the passenger bus caught fire, resulting in the death and burning of more than 70 passengers. Reports indicate that women and children were also among the victims, and the bodies are unidentifiable.
