The Department of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock of Faryab Province has announced the inauguration of a standard 100-ton cold storage facility for fruit preservation in the province.
Mawlavi Jan Mardad Waqar, Director of the department, stated that the project was funded by the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock at a total cost of 3,580,000 Afghanis and was built in accordance with technical standards.
According to Waqar, the cold storage facility provides standardized capacity for preserving fruit and helps prevent the loss of agricultural produce during the harvest season. He added that the establishment of such infrastructure plays a key role in stabilizing market prices, increasing farmers’ incomes, and promoting local market growth.
With the activation of this cold storage unit, farmers will be able to supply their produce to the market at an appropriate time, avoiding the need for immediate sales and the consequent losses.
