We want Saudi to cooperate us in implementation of peace: Ghani

President Ashraf Ghani on Monday called Saudi Arabia a strategic partner of Afghanistan in the peace process, asking the gulf country to cooperate with Afghanistan in implementation and ensuring peace.
President Ghani expressed the views during a meeting with the members of Afghanistan Ulema Council and High Peace Council (HPC).
A statement from the Presidential Palace received by Pajhwok Afghan News quoted Mulavi Qeyamuddin Kashaf, head of Afghanistan Ulema Council, as saying that Ulema from the Islamic world welcomed the Afghan Ulema voice against the conflict, suicide attacks and bombings in Afghanistan.
Mulavi Attau Rahman Salim, deputy HPC head, who was also present in the meeting, presented information about Ulema’s international conference about Afghanistan peace in Saudi Arabia.
“Saudi conference informed Ulema of the Islamic world about the ongoing situation in Afghanistan,” he said.
President Ashraf Ghani appreciated support and stance of Saudi king, the secretary of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and Ulema of Islamic countries regarding Afghanistan peace.
He said Saudi Arabia turned to a major strategic partner of Afghanistan about the peace process. “We want Saudi Arabia to cooperate us in implementation and ensuring peace,”
Ghani said the entire Islamic world was supporting the Afghanistan peace process and the voice of peace rose from Mecca had a significant impact on situation in Afghanistan.
