The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will construct houses for 200 returning families in northern Baghlan province, officials announced.
Adnan Safi, a UNDP representative, shared the plan during a meeting with Baghlan Governor Mawlavi Abdul Rahman Haqqani and representatives of national and international aid organizations. Safi said the project will focus on returning families in Baghlan’s central district.
He added that more than 1,000 homes damaged by recent floods are already under reconstruction, and a province-wide demining operation is scheduled to begin within two months.
Governor Haqqani welcomed the initiatives, reaffirming the provincial administration’s support for ongoing aid projects while stressing that all efforts must comply with the relevant ministries’ rules and regulations.
