Two Blasts Happen in Kabul, One Wounded

Two magnetic IED explosions happened in Kabul on Saturday morning, leaving one person wounded, according to police.  

The first explosion happened in Hese Awal area in the north of Kabul at around 6:10 am local time in which a civilian vehicle was targeted by a magnetic IED blast. The driver of the vehicle was wounded in the blast, police said.

Eyewitnesses said four people were wounded in the blast.

The second explosion happened on the airport road in which an army vehicle was targeted by an IED explosion. Police said the explosion had no casualties.

No group has claimed responsibility for the blasts so far.

On Saturday morning, at least 23 rockets landed in various parts of Kabul just one hour after two IED explosions in the city.

The Interior Affairs Ministry said eight people were killed and 30 more were wounded in the rocket attacks and blasts.

The rockets landed in Wazir Akbar Khan and Shahr-e-Naw areas in downtown Kabul, Chahar Qala, the Traffic Roundabout, the Gul-e-Surkh Roundabout in PD4, Sedarat Roundabout, the Spinzar Road in the center of the city, near the National Archive road in PD2, and in Lysee Maryam market and Panjsad Family areas in the north of Kabul, according to the ministry.

The rockets landed in various parts of Kabul a few minutes after two explosions happened in Chehel Sutoon and Arzaan Qeemat areas.

The explosion in Arzaan Qeemat left one security force member dead and three more wounded.

Most of those who were wounded in the rocket attacks were taken to Emergency Hospital in Shahr-e-Naw area in Kabul.

Taliban denied involvement in the attack.

The increase in IED blasts in Kabul has created concerns among Afghans who say the government has “failed” to ensure the safety of the people.
