At least three Pakistani forces were killed and eight others were wounded in a clash with Afghan border police along the Durand Line.
Security officials in the southern Kandahar province say the skirmish erupted on Sunday after Pakistani forces were prevented from fencing the Durand Line in Sro Sahno area of Shorabak district.
In response, Pakistani forces attacked Afghan border police that faced a strong counter attack, Kandahar police chief Gen. Abul Raziq said on Monday.
Pakistan closed Chaman border crossing as the battle began and it remained closed on Monday.
Pakistan began building fence along the 1,500-mile Durand Line last year, apparently to curtail the flow of terrorists between the two countries.
The barrier has, however, angered the people living on both sides of the line, saying terrorists cannot be stopped by fencing and fight against the phenomena requires political will.
