Those impeding revenue collection must face law: Ghani

President Ashraf Ghani has ordered security officials to deal with elements creating hurdles to government’s efforts for collecting revenue in accordance with the law.

In a statement, the Presidential Palace said President Ghani talked about revenue collection with security officials of 34 provinces through a video conference.

Deputy Director of Revenue, head of the Independent Directorate of Local Governance, leadership of security and defense forces and a number of governors were present at the conference.

Ghani emphasized on increased coordination in revenue collection and efforts in this regard. He called on security officials that those who make barriers to the revenue affairs must be dealt with in accordance with the law.

The president also urged all officials to oversee and pay attention to tax evasion at customs.

He praised efforts of the Ministry of Finance for revenue collection and budget making and stressed on preparing budget from revenues like other independent countries.

He informed that nobody should impede the collection of revenue at customs because it was a national process.
