Taliban’s shadow governor for central Kapisa province and a district chief have been killed in an operation, an official said on Monday.
District police chief Mohammad Nasim Safi told Pajhwok Afghan News that commandos conducted the operation in Badrab area of Tagab district.
He said Taliban’s shadow governor Maulvi Nasim Mushtaq and district chief Qari Ihsanullah were in a meeting when they came under attack.
According to Safi, both Taliban figures were killed along with six other rebels. Another six fighters were wounded. The security forces and civilians suffered no casualties, he added.
Foreign forces also supported the Tagab operation. Sherullah, a resident of the area, confirmed the clash and casualties but gave no details.
