Taliban’s shadow governor for Afghanistan’s northern Samangan has been killed, Afghan army said on Sunday.
Noor-u-din was killed in a raid by foreign forces in Toqsan area of Dar-i-Suf district, said Hanif Rezaie, a spokesman for Afghan army’s 209 Shaheen Corps.
Twelve other militants were also killed in the operation, he said.
The attack comes amid stepped up fighting in Afghanistan after collapse of US peace talks with the Taliban last week.
